Reliquaries are objects of devotion because they hold and honor what matters.
Historically, they were created to safeguard sacred relics—the remains or personal belongings of saints and other revered figures.
Often beautifully crafted, they transformed the act of keeping into an act of remembrance, reverence, and love.
Contemporary reliquaries need not contain religious relics. They may honor a person, a place, a memory, an idea, or a small object filled with personal meaning.
In this workshop, you will see three reliquaries come into being from beginning to end. None was planned in advance.
Each evolved as I listened to the materials, responded to what was emerging, and allowed the process to reveal what the piece wanted to become. I invite you to approach your own reliquary with that same spirit of curiosity, trust, and devotion.
